A 70kg Mako shark, caught by Luke Ross, Napier, on his father Garrie Ross's boat Bay Rum, didn't qualify but caused huge interest as it arrived just minutes before the final weigh-in on the third and last day of the Your Solutions MegaFish Hawke's Bay fishing competition at the Hawke's Bay Sports Fishing Club, Napier.

After the arrest in Carroll St - Armed police cordoned off streets as Armed Offenders Squad went to a house in Carroll St, Frasertown, Northern Hawke's Bay and arrested Ihaka Paul, 26, who was wanted by Police after he cut off his electronic bail bracelet, presented a pistol to family members, and actively avoided authorities.
