Living the Dream

"Thank you" changes atmosphere in Government:

A group of thirty 10-11yr olds from Bethel went to Washington DC to thank and bless those in US Congress (Government). Here's one days report from the group:

"We stopped outside each office and asked the Lord for a word for the member on Congress and how we should pray for them. These girls spent at least 5 minutes at each office in prayer, never rushing, always waiting on the Holy Spirit. They then walked into each office and handed out the Thank You cards they had prepared. On the front of the card there is a small stack of post it notes and on the back is an encouraging word. They signed each one personally. They handed one to each staff member and told them 'Thank you for serving our nation, we appreciate you and what you do' (or something similar).

People were moved to tears, some offices people were coming out of doors everywhere to see the children and meet them. One staff member turned her card over and read what was written on the back and said 'That is a good word for me!'. We were given business cards of congressional aides who told us to call if we needed anything while we were in DC. The children were given so much stuff from the offices, their back packs were loaded! Staff aides stopped me in the hall and asked 'Are you doing this are every office?', when I replied 'Yes', they said 'This is an incredible thing you are doing'.

They asked why the children were there and were left saying things like 'Wow!', when the children told them they had come to say 'Thank You'. People couldn't believe that children would come all the way from California just to thank them. There was a shift in the atmosphere in the House of Representative offices today!" Laura Griffis, Redding, CA (April 2014)"

Living the Dream

"Young man recently restored from addict lifestyle had a heart dream of having his own house (but no money as he began a ministry school). Another couple in town had a beautiful guesthouse (with an amazing view) they used for missionaries but it was mostly left empty. One day they opened it to find 17 dead bats and realized that leaving it empty was resulting in it being run down. The young man was recommended as a possible trustworthy tenant.

On his return from a mission trip they practically begged him to occupy. He then found out they didn’t want to charge him rent due to the tax credits they received from the property being attached to their own. Even more so, they paid for all his utilities! Seven years later having paid no rent or utilities he was given the opportunity to purchase it… for free

After 7 years the older husband passed away and his wife went to live with family. It initially looked like the young couple would need to find another place to live, but they prayed and believed God to make a way. A few months later they were approached with the offer to purchase BOTH homes and ALL the property with an assessed value of $415,000 (low!).

However the asking price was only $285,000 because they wanted the guesthouse to be a ‘blessing.’ PLUS the family financed the deal at 0% (zero percent) interest for three years. During this time the young couple rented out the guesthouse that fully covered the mortgage, taxes and insurance. PL, Alaska"

Living the Dream

"Brent was the general manager of a manufacturing company. In spite of only being in his early 30s, he was responsible for over 250 employees and was generating $3 million per month of gross sales.

During the second day of a Heaven in Business workshop, he received word that he was $87,000 below the budgeted net profit of $300,000 for the month (almost 30 percent)! Normally he would stop everything he was doing and completely focus on doing whatever was necessary to achieve or exceed the budget targets. However, in exploring a partnership with God at work, he chose to lean into what his senior partner could do. Brent switched off his phone and walked into the event. He focused on resting with God rather than the problem at hand.

At the end of the afternoon session titled “The Performance of Rest,” Brent turned his phone back on and found two texts and one email. The first text reported the company had an over-accrual of labor for the previous month, and $40,000 was being credited back to the current month. The second text reported that an employee, budgeted to cost another $20,000 on sick leave, had suddenly turned back up at work, fully functioning, to the surprise of the management. Brent then opened the email. It detailed an idea that came from an employee on the manufacturing shop floor. His idea would result in completing a job four weeks ahead of schedule and contribute an additional $35,000 to the month’s income!

Within a few hours, a 30 percent deficit became a surplus. Brent was shocked that when he did the opposite of his instincts and rested with God, the problem was solved so easily. Even better, Brent was gaining confidence in his partnership with God at work and learning His ways of performing from rest."
