A tin shack on the sand dunes very close to Waimarama Beach, on a property on Waitangi Rd, owned by Hohepa Orikena from Waimarama, but no longer used, was damaged in a suspicious fire on Sunday. The fire just north of Waingongoro Stream also destroyed about 30m by 35m of grasses on the sand dunes. Hastings Fire, Waimarama Rural Fire Force and the Havelock North Volunteer Fire Brigade attended. photograph
